Swinburne University of Technology has achieved excellent results in the latest Shanghai rankings, the ARWU World Academic Subject Rankings 2023.
This year, two Swinburne subjects made the top 50 in the world.
Automation and Control was ranked 36th, placing Swinburne second in Australia in this area and up nine places from last year.
Business administration also appears in the top 50, in 44th position. Last year, the topic moved up a remarkable 350 places from the 301-400 bracket.
Hospitality and tourism management ranks just behind, in the 51-75 bracket, compared to last year’s top 150.
Professor Karen Hapgood, Swinburne’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research, expressed her gratitude to the academics and educators who contributed to this year’s excellent results.
“Swinburne’s continued success in the ARWU subject rankings demonstrates the impact of our scholars and research on a global scale.
“The significant improvement in areas such as business administration shows how our commitment to undertaking quality, impactful research across disciplines is really starting to pay off,” Professor Hapgood said.
“Congratulations to everyone involved in this exceptional result.”
Newly ranked topics climb into the top 200
Of the 23 Swinburne subjects ranked, nine subjects improved their rankings, with some moving several levels higher since last year.
Three subjects were ranked for the first time this year, debuting in the top 150 (instrument science and technology) and top 200 (chemical engineering and energy science and engineering).
