Of course, I’m currently obsessed with my new Topics life, or #Thrife, but I haven’t lost sight of my main goals, which is what I’m buying this Prime Day. Normally, two weeks before each Prime Day, I start putting together my wish list. Everything from camera gear to fire pits to new cushions for my patio furniture. This year I wanted to focus more on camera gear for my mobile content creation.
I’ve compiled my short list of wants and needs, plus a little extra that’s more about creating memories for me and my family. Yeah, I can get a little soft-hearted when I’m shopping. OK, let’s take a quick look at my Prime Day Content Creators Wishlist, which has everything you need to create pro-level content.
Camera
Since its release in 2022, the Panasonic Lumix GH6 has been one of the best cameras available for content creators of all skill levels. While it’s not a full-frame camera, this Micro Four Thirds beast is really all most content creators need. The GH6 is small and light, but offers a wide range of video options combined with excellent image quality. The GH6 also offers fantastic image stabilization, excellent autofocus, and one of the best user interfaces in photo and video. I can personally vouch for the quality as I am currently conducting a long term review which will be released shortly. The GH6 is a winner, delivering stunning photos and videos.
The GH6 records up to 5.7K60 and 4K120; you can shoot ProRes 422 HQ, MOV internally. MP4 and with an external monitor in BlackMagic BRAW format. You also get pre-installed V-Log/V-Gamut and +13 stops of dynamic range with Dynamic Range Boost. You have a 25 MP sensor for taking photos, with a 100 MP multi-shot option for stunning super high resolution photos. The GH6 is sturdy, thanks to its magnesium construction with protection against dust and splashes. Autofocus helps recognize the subject of people and animals. The 3-inch fully articulating screen looks fantastic and the system also features active cooling for long-duration recording.
This Prime Day deal has already started, so you can get the Panasonic Lumix GH6 with its superb Leica 12-60mm F2.8 – 4.0 lens right now for just $2,297.99, a massive savings of $500 that I plan to enjoy.
Lighting
THE Zhiyun Molus X100 gives users access to a powerful, ultra-portable 100W lighting source, from 2700K to 6500K, and comes with an excellent ecosystem of accessories. I tested it for an upcoming review, which is amazing. It’s a must-have for any mobile content creator.
Weighing just under a pound (385 grams, 0.85 pounds), it’s easy to carry in your backpack or its included case. The light temperature controls also allow the user to adjust the color exactly how you want your image to look. Additionally, this small light source is bright; I used it to film in my backyard in the middle of the night, and it lit up the entire area. The X100’s lithium battery will give you a few hours of powerful light, and you can also plug it in without worrying about it overheating because it has a built-in fan cooling system.
The Molus X100 should have a good discount, making it a good deal for anyone looking for electric portable lighting options.
Gimbal
Content creators can use the Zhiyun WeeBill-S to create stabilized and fluid sequences for all their projects. Used by professional filmmakers, it is affordable and gives novices and amateurs alike the opportunity to create cinematic magic. Featuring powerful motors with an advanced stabilization algorithm, the intelligent ViaTouch 2.0 system, as well as an ultra-low latency HD image transmission module, the WEEBILL-S helps you push your creations to the next level.
At NAB 2023 I tested the Weebill S-3, which was absolutely fantastic. This professional camera gimbal easily handles combinations of consumer mirrorless and DSLR cameras and lenses. With its lightweight body and unique Sling mode, the WEEBILL-S creates an effortless shooting experience.
During Prime Day, I’m pretty sure we can all save some money on the Weebill-S and snag it for less than its current price of $279. However, I’m waiting for the Weebill-S kit with Image Transmission Pro, which normally costs $539. As rumors say, you can expect massive savings starting July 11.
Storage
Storage is a must-have when you’re a content creator, and the PNY 256 GB Class EliteX-PRO90 The SDXC 10 U3 V90 UHS-II SDXC Flash Memory Card is one of my favorite cards.
With read speeds of up to 300MB/s and write speeds of up to 280MB/s, I can capture high-quality content seamlessly. I tend to shoot in 4K or 6K, and I’ve found that these PNY EliteX-Pro90 SD cards have never let me down. Thanks to its V90 Speed class, I could even film in 8K without worry.
You should be able to get these reliable, durable, and waterproof SD cards from PNY during Prime Day deals starting July 11.
If you only shoot 1080p or 4K, you should be able to get a good deal on the PNY EliteX-PRO60 and snag a 256GB card, as that’s usually the best deal. I also use these cards, and they are fantastic and reliable. With a read speed of 280MB and a write speed of 180MB. They are reliable, magnet resistant and won’t let you down. These are also on my wishlist, as I’m sure the prices will drop on July 11th.
Laptop
Since its launch, the 15-inch MacBook Air has earned raves, and I, for one, would love to put my muscular swingers ax on one. Apple’s 15-inch MacBook Air is pretty much the MacBook Air 13 with more screen real estate.
The base model of the MacBook Air 15 features a 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display (2880 x 1864), 8-core M2 CPU, 10-core GPU, neural with 16 cores and 8 GB of RAM. It has a fast 256GB SSD, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, and a Force Touch trackpad.
Our review of the MacBook Air 15 gave it a solid 4.5 stars out of 5, praising its ultra-thin chassis, beautiful Liquid Retina display, and solid performance. The 15-inch MacBook Air’s battery life enabled continuous web surfing over WiFi with 150 nits brightness. This puts it in the category of laptops with the longest battery life.
In one test, we opened 80 Google Chromes running a mix of productivity, social, and video apps. Apple’s new 15-inch laptop had no problem juggling multiple tasks at once without performance lag. In our lab, it scored 9,993 on the Geekbench 6.1 overall performance test, which beats the category average of 8,389.
Weighing 3.3 pounds and measuring 13.4 x 0.5 x 9.4 inches, the MacBook Air 15 is quite portable. Now at just under $1,200, the MacBook Air 15 is worth considering if you’re in the market for a new laptop.
You can already save $100 on Apple’s 15-inch MacBook Air M2 and grab it for $1,199 Amazonand it could dive even deeper during Prime Day.
THE Kodak Step Slim Instant Mobile Color Photo Printer. It’s a sentimental choice for me. Growing up, my mother, father, and brother would look at the photo albums my parents had collected. My parents have been gone for many years, but I still have these albums and these memories warm my heart.
In today’s world, most of our photos are collected in the cloud. It’s wonderful and practical, but physical pictures or special moments of my own children, hanging on walls or in albums, don’t exist. This is where the Kodak Step Slim comes into play.
The ability to print high quality copies of all the moments saved on my phone to the cloud and put them in an album for my kids means everything to me. And since they print on sticky zinc paper, I can also slap them anywhere I want to annoy my kids lol. Plus, thanks to the adhesive backs, you can turn any notebook into a photo album, and that’s cool too.
Professionally, I enjoy taking photos and printing them quickly to stick to a session board and collaborate with others on my teams on how a photo should look. With its light weight of 8.4 ounces and small size (0.9 x 3.25 x 4.9 inches), I can easily add the Step Slim to my mobile creation kit. The Step Slim prints one print per minute and you should get 100 prints on a single charge.
I’m hoping to grab the Kodak Step Slim Mobile Color Photo Printer during the Prime Day sales. I’ve been told that Kodak will be offering some great deals starting July 11th and I hope to take advantage of them.
That’s my list of must-haves this Prime Day, and you better believe I’ve already saved them to my special Prime Day wishlist on Amazon.
