BEIJING, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) — The first Belt and Road Conference on science and technology exchanges will be held on Nov. 6-7 in southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality, it was announced Monday the State Council Information Office at a press conference.
The conference will focus on intergovernmental cooperation in science and technology, people-to-people exchanges in science and technology, industrial innovation and development, paradigm shift in scientific research, future medicine , open science and big data.
The conference will have five main sections, including the opening ceremony, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) science and technology innovation ministerial meeting, thematic activities, roundtable discussions and results presentation, as well as the main technological activities.
More than 300 foreign participants from more than 70 countries and international organizations were invited to attend the conference, including Nobel laureates, academicians, experts, scholars and university presidents, said Zhang Anjiang. , deputy mayor of Chongqing. Chinese academicians, university presidents, scientific research institutes and representatives of key enterprises will also attend the conference, he added.
China has signed intergovernmental science and technology cooperation agreements with more than 80 Belt and Road partners, jointly building a comprehensive, multi-level and large-scale science and technology cooperation model, said the vice minister of China. Science and Technology Zhang Guangjun.
China will adopt more measures to promote international scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation, and accelerate the construction of an open and globally competitive innovation ecosystem, Zhang said.
The conference is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the China Association for Science and Technology, the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government and the People’s Government of Sichuan Province.
